Without life, there would be no death; without death, there can be no new life. This quote from Deepak Chopra captures this reality in a simple way.
Without death there can be no present moment, for the last moment has to die to make the next one possible. There can be no present love, for the last emotion has to die to make a new one possible. There can be no present life, for the old cells in my body have to die to make new tissue possible. This is the miracle of creation, which in every second is one thing: life and death joined in an eternal dance.
Deepak Chopra, Life after Death: The Burden of Proof
I like Chopra’s idea of “the miracle of creation” and the “eternal dance” metaphor. Life and death is happening every second, even inside your body. But this need not refer to just cells and organisms; other things come and go in our lives — emotions, thoughts, friends, technology, cultural trends.
This eternal dance can be a cause for celebration, not one of despair, as too many humans choose to see it.
How might this miracle of creation apply to your life now, in the past, or in the future?
